John Whelan has over twenty-five years of experience operating a commercial interior plantscape business in the BW metro area  John has been responsible for all aspects of his business (Tropical Interiors), from hiring employees, meeting payroll, advertising, insurance and managing and overseeing hundreds of commercial accounts. Fiscally conservative by nature, he has learned to manage a successful business and survive the cyclical nature of economic and market forces.

John’s other hat that he proudly wears is “In Recovery”. John has been a friend of Bill W. for over thirty-seven years. John’s service work in AA includes taking meetings into the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, Hagerstown RCI facilities and volunteering at the FMH Detox ward. For the past four years John has been the District 41 treasurer in the New Market-Mt Airy area.
